About Georgian wine

Eight thousand years ago, Georgians discovered that grape juice could turn into wine. During excavations, archaeologists found evidence of this. That is why Georgia is called “the Cradle of Wine”;

Georgians are proud of their ancient tradition of winemaking. Here the way of winemaking has been passed down from generation to generation. From the very beginning, they make and store wine in an earthen vessel buried in soil called Kvevri. Therefore, the Kvevri is an unofficial symbol of Georgia.

More than five hundred grape varieties grow in Georgia, including endangered ones that you cannot find anywhere else.
